The Shanti Bhavan Residential School in Tamil Nadu, India seeks a socially conscious individual with teaching and administrative experience for the position of Vice Principal of Academic Affairs. Shanti Bhavan is located 1 and ½ hours from Bangalore; it is a highly reputed, internationally known institution that transforms children from socially and economically deprived backgrounds into professionals and leaders of society. Shanti Bhavan is accredited with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations and the students take the national ICSE and ISC tests. The school has been featured on The PBS News Hour, Charlie Rose, The New York Times-Discovery Channel, and Thomas Friedman's "The World is Flat".

While we are a non-profit organization committed to humanitarian endeavors, we offer a good compensation package consisting of a competitive salary (within Indian norms), free family residence on campus, meals and other housekeeping services. The selected individual must have the potential to move up to the position of Principal within 1-2 years and must be prepared to commit to serve up to at least 5 years. We are seeking to fill the position for the next academic year, starting in June 2010.
Qualifications:
The candidate must have a minimum of ten years of teaching experience, a master's degree, as well as a bachelor's degree in education. The position calls for a highly motivated, committed and energetic individual who has had teaching experience in schools of excellence.
