Position Summary: To manage the complete running of the expedition 7 days a week on our forest/beach camps and in the village of San Marcos la Laguna. Main Position Responsibilities: - To work to budget & keep an accurate set of accounts for each expedition - To manage all expedition staff, local employees, and viajeros in an effective way on our forest camp, beach camp and in the village of San Marcos la Laguna. - To safe-guard and maintain the deep positive spirit & soul of the expedition and therefore the philosophy of Soul Projects at all times - To manage and be responsible for, the well-being and safety of all expedition staff, local employees & viajeros at all times. - To be responsible for ensuring there is always adequate shelter, food, water, supplies, equipment, cooking & sanitation facilities for all expedition staff, local employees and viajeros. - To look after, maintain and keep project vehicles & equipment in good condition, and therefore operational and safe for expedition use. - To preserve and enhance the positive & trusting relationships with the local families and local community that have been created, whilst always being respectful to their different way of life, traditions and culture. - To plan, organize, manage and co-ordinate the smooth running of the various activities and sessions of the expedition 7 days a week - To assist the Expedition Scuba Diving Instructor with the efficient running of our Lake Scuba Diving Exploration and Clean-up Project. Roles could include driving the expedition dive boat, by dropping-off and picking-up scuba divers or snorkellers, leading dives in the lake itself, or assisting with the dive courses.
Qualifications:
General Staff requirements: Soul Projects are always looking for free spirited, open minded, energetic and adventurous travellers to join our project team in the field, as staff, all year round. The only general physical requirements that we ask for, are that you are in excellent health & physical fitness, and that you are able to commit to the expedition for the minimum of at least 12 months. A good strong positive attitude, flowing energy and giving nature is what we look for most in our staff. Someone with an eagerness to learn and grow, to follow their heart and live their dreams, and want to help others do the same is far more important to us than any formal qualifications. Please Note: A certain level of proficiency of the Spanish language is important in all of our staff members, but it is not necessarily essential to be fluent! Position Requirements: A valid First Aid & CPR certification of some sort. Wilderness First Aid Training would be an advantage! A Full Driving License with 4x4 Off Road Experience. A PADI Divemaster OR Open Water Scuba Diving Instructor Certification with Teaching Experience (With an Active Teaching Status!). A Motor Boat Driving Licence e.g. RYA Level II. With Experience of Dropping-off and Picking-up Scuba Divers Atleast an Intermediate conversational level of the Spanish Language is Required! Other Useful Experience: Previous travelling & backpacking experience, and work on other similar volunteer projects in developing countries would also be a distinct advantage. Expedition experience, hiking, camping, love for the outdoors, experience leading groups, living & working in the forest, in the mountains or on the beach, in more natural isolated environments would come in very handy. Experience Using, Fixing & Maintaining Dive Equipment, Dive Compressors, Outboard Boat Engines and 4x4 Trucks would also be very useful.
