Description:
Market leading Technology Company requires an ambitious scientist to join their world class corrosion research team. Their experimental and theoretical research is mainly in support of the nuclear industry. There is a particular emphasis on understanding and predicting corrosion processes arising during radioactive waste management. Their corrosion laboratories have an extensive range of modern facilities with a team of scientists and engineers who are at the forefront of applied research in this field in the UK. Location of this placement is in Oxfordshire. Responsibilities: You will be responsible for the execution of projects involving both experimental and analytical components. Responsibilities include: - Preparation of commercially-costed proposals, definition of technical work activities, supervision and conduct of research programmes. - Development of novel experimental or analytical techniques. - Presentation of results and conclusions of studies to customers. - Publication of appropriate work at external conferences or in technical journals. - Operation and development of a small team of engineers and scientists
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements - Education and Experience You should have the following knowledge and experience: * A proven track record in corrosion research or plant problem solving. * An ability to plan and conduct experimental research to meet required technical objectives, to interpret the results in the context of customer needs and to present the conclusions orally and in written reports. * Experience of studying corrosion processes affecting steels would be beneficial. * Project management experience, from proposal to invoice at both a commercial and technical level. * An ability to motivate and develop a team as well as lead research work. Core Competences: * Strong technical orientation * Excellent interpersonal skills, within a team and customer facing * Good communicator both orally and in writing * Motivated and committed to strong technical delivery in a commercial environment
Minimum Education: Bachelors
Salary / Pay: Up to 45k per annum (GBP)
Experience Required: yes
In addition to several years' relevant experience in applied research, ideally you should have a PhD level qualification in corrosion or related discipline.
