English Language Curriculum Adviser, Sultanate of Oman Job Description The Ministry of Education for the Sultanate of Oman requires an experienced curriculum designer and/or textbook writer to work with Omani colleagues in the Curriculum Department and support the development of the English language curriculum. The chosen candidate will be based in the Ministry of Education in Muscat but will make occasional visits to schools in the Sultanate to assess the implementation of the revised curriculum. Main scope of work: - To work as part of a team for the development of the English Language Curriculum - To visit schools in the regions to obtain feedback on the curriculum at different educational levels - Foster a culture of continuous professional development among English Language officers Specific responsibilities: - Participate in revising and improving Curriculum documents in the light of innovations - Participate in the development and production of English Language curriculum, syllabus and teacher guides - Conduct a technical review of the content of the English Language Curriculum - Ensure the proper implementation of the curriculum in schools. - Revise English Language books in light of feedback received from the field. - Make recommendations for supporting materials. - Ensure consistency between the curriculum and supporting documents. - Propose plans needed to implement the curriculum in schools. - Analyze and specify and the training needs for teachers, supervisors, and curriculum officers in the Department of Human Sciences. - Propose training programmes in the curriculum for English teachers. - Participate in evaluating the curriculum. - Participate in identifying reference books and other books required for school libraries and Learning Resource Centres - Participate in studying the extent of the coherence between the curriculum and the educational objectives in the Sultanate and the new modern educational theories - Ensure integration between the English Language Curriculum and other subjects - Prepare the required reports relating to the English Language Curriculum - Provide support to curriculum officers

Qualifications:
Qualifications and experience: - MA in Applied Linguistics or in TEFL/TESOL - Experience of no less than 7 years in the field of writing English Language books for different educational levels with diverse topics and/or in curriculum development /syllabus design in the field of English language - High competence in the use of Information Technology - Communication skills - Teaching experience of no less than 4 years - Driving licence required.
