Local Automotive is a busy five-bay garage located in Function Junction in Whistler, BC, Canada, adjacent to the new Athlete's Village complex for the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. It uses the most up-to-date technology and services all makes of vehicles including luxury. We pride ourselves on friendly, efficient service as many of our travelling customers need their vehicles back promptly to return home. Owner/Operator Steven Turner has lived in Whistler for well over twenty years and has operated Local for close to 15 years, owning both the business and the land the shop is located on. Whistler is an awesome place to live offering both a welcoming community and never-ending choice of activities to engage in from skiing in the winter to hiking and biking in the summer.
Highlights:
This position offers the successful candidate a chance to live one of the world's great ski resorts. Whistler has not one but two fantastic mountains with a vertical drop of over one mile to enjoy. In the summer months the mountain biking is second to none. The community of about 10,000 is also vibrant and welcoming and has a thriving nightlife. The resort has also been chosen to be tbe Mountain Host of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. This once in a lifetime event will transform the resort into an international mecca for the month of February and offers an incredible experience for those lucky enough to live here at the time.
Qualifications:
- Technicians must be able to work on all makes and models and cars and trucks and a strong knowledge of computer diagnostics is an asset. - Technicians are expected to arrive promptly at work and be ready to be part of a team partnership. - Local Automotive participates in the Chamber's Spirit Ski pass program. Local will also consider reimbursing technicians for the pass completely at the end of the season as a bonus for strong team workmanship. We are also looking for service writers. This position requires strong organizational skills and a pleasant manner with customers in person and on the phone. The successful candidate will have some service experience. Knowledge of car repairs is an asset but is not essential. Strong computer skills is also an asset as the shop uses up to date technology for service tracking and billing. He or she, once fully trained, will be expected to open and close the business, keep track of customer service operations, operate the computer booking system, engage and help customers, help the technicians order parts, and generally keep the physical showroom clean and welcoming. Local Automotive supports the Whistler Chamber's Spirit Ski pass program, which allows discounted ski passes, and Local will consider a full reimbursement of the pass as a bonus for strong work as part of the team. Some employee accommodation is available.
Salary / Pay: starting salary $30 an hour depending on experience. Service writer starts at $20 an hour depending on experience.
