The Yangshuo Village Inn is a concept boutique hotel in the popular tourist town of Yangshuo, China. This beautifully situated Yangshuo guesthouse will open in October '08 along with our Italian restaurant, Luna, on the rooftop of the Yangshuo Village Inn. This Italian themed menu will cater mostly to western tour groups in a spectacular outdoor setting. Luna overlooks the local villages and dramatic karst limestone towers, including the local landmark, Moon Hill. We will have 9 local staff who will require training in Italian food preparation and service, as well as kitchen management. Our goal is to create the most authentic Italian dining experience in provincial China.

Yangshuo is one of the most beautiful places to work in China. The historic town is full of tourists from all over the world and a great place to meet young travelers. We are in the countryside, just 15 minutes from the town, in a quaint village called Moon Hill. All around us there are caves to explore, mountains to hike, rivers to enjoy on a bamboo raft, and some of the best sport climbing in the world. The Yangshuo Village Inn is owned by American Chris Barclay, who also owns the Yangshuo Mountain Retreat, currently the most popular hotel in Yangshuo. The Yangshuo Village Inn will be a unique and intimate guesthouse experience, catering to primarily western couples, friends and small families who wish to enjoy the best of what Yangshuo has to offer.
Qualifications:
Italian Chef must have at least 5 years experience in all aspects of Italian food preparation and kitchen management. Must speak fluent English and has worked in other countries/cultures. We'll need to have copies of all certificates and diplomas related to this work in order to secure a work visa and residence permit.
Minimum Education: High School
Salary / Pay: Base salary is RMB 5,000, plus a performance bonus based on staff capabilities from training and monthly revenue. We include R/T airfare, insurance, room and board, Chinese lessons, work visa and a local transportation stipend.
Experience Required: yes
5 years as sous chef, prep cook, head chef or any combination of these working in an authentic Italian kitchen.
