Description:
Who are we? We are not a language school, but rather a linguistic immersion camp. As such, we emphasize education through cultural exchange. American Village camps are for French children, ages 8 to 17 years old. These camps allow for children to become completely immersed in a foreign language within their home country by creating a positive environment where it is fun, natural and necessary to use English. We have ten different sites throughout France. Our sites are located in small, quiet villages situated in the countryside, in the mountains or by the sea. Counselors are hired for a maximum of two and a half months, and our season extends from mid-March until the end of August. * Temporary work permit for North Americans, Australians and New Zealanders * Room and board * Accident/liability insurance while working * A free night at a hotel in Paris upon arrival in France We have ten different sites throughout France. Our sites are located in small, quiet villages situated in the countryside, in the mountains or by the sea. NB: We are unable to offer financial assistance for plane or train tickets. However, we will provide as much information as possible to assist counselors with their travel arrangements to France.
Qualifications:
We seek camp counselors who are native English speakers. Criteria for employment: * Are from 20 to 35 years old * Enjoy working and playing with children * Are energetic, creative, and initiative-takers * Have previous camp counseling / childcare experience * Are capable of communicating to non-native speakers * Have special skills to add to the diversity of our program sports, music, theatre, etc Applicants should be prepared to teach songs, organize various arts and crafts, participate in skits and play sports. Musicians are very welcome to apply, and in an effort to balance our teams, we strongly encourage male applicants. A TEFL certification is NOT a requirement. Neither is knowledge of French. Experience in childcare and a clean criminal history is a requirement (camp, after school, babysitting, etc).
