The Optometric Consultant will act as an advisor to the engineering and marketing departments as we improve our current vision screeners and develop new models.
Highlights:
This opportunity with Keystone View is based in the town of Bagaces, within the province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The company itself is situated approximately 1.5 km from Bagaces. Transportation costs to and from Costa Rica for the internship/consultant program is the sole responsibility of the intern or consultant. There is an informal and relaxed atmosphere within Keystone View. You will have the opportunity to work independently and in teams on the projects assigned to you from inception to completion. The working week is from 7:30am - 5:30pm Monday through Thursday and Friday 7:30am - 3:15pm. You are allowed two fifteen minute breaks and thirty minutes for lunch during the workday. Keystone View will provide you with a host family to live with during your stay here. The host family provides all your meals including a packed lunch during the week, a private bedroom, and laundry service. Host families provide an excellent way to develop your language skills and gain experience of the community. Keystone View will provide you with a weekly stipend paid directly into a Costa Rican bank account. The account will be opened once you arrive. The weekly wage, $75.00 USD, is paid at the end of the week, in the local currency. This weekly wage provides an adequate amount of money to pursue your interests and explore other regions within Costa Rica on the weekends. Transportation to and from work is your responsibility. You can purchase a second hand bike; take a taxi or walk... any of which will take you no more than 20 minutes. Keystone View is an American company operating in Costa Rica and there are many English speakers, however, the primary language spoken by the employees is Spanish. Spanish is a plus, but is not required. There are Spanish lessons available at an additional cost to you. Qualifications:
- At least 3 years in an accredited Optometry College or University - Ability to work independently and manage own projects - Extensive knowledge of how to access resources for optometric research - Understanding of the importance of vision screening
