Summer Community Service Trip Leader

Description:
VISIONS offers co-ed summer programs for teenagers that blend ambitious community service work, inter-cultural living and learning, and outdoor adventure. Programs operate in impoverished communities in Alaska and Montana indigenous villages, Mississippi Gulf Coast, Dominican Republic, British Virgin Islands, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Peru, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Ecuador/Galapagos Islands, and Vietnam. Co-ed groups of 16 - 25 teenagers and 4 - 6 staff live and work together in the heart of a community. If you join VISIONS, you are committing to a work attitude that is fundamentally cooperative, positive, safety-conscious, and community spirited. Your role within this model is to mentor teens and help supervise project sites, recreational activities, cross-cultural experiences and daily living in a safe, challenging program environment as part of a staff team.
Qualifications:
You must be at least 23 years old, have experience leading and/or teaching teenagers, and a demonstrated interest in cross-cultural living and learning. A genuine team player mindset is a requisite. A minimum of Standard First Aid, CPR, and Water Safety is required with WFA and/or WEMT at some sites. Advanced wilderness safety certifications, carpentry or masonry skills, and experience living in different cultures are pluses. French fluency is required for Guadeloupe; Spanish fluency is required for Dominican Republic, Peru, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica.
