The IOW invites applications of outstanding scientists in the fields of trophic interactions and responses of organisms and foodwebs in coastal ecosystems to climate change and human impact. A broad experience in biological oceanography should be complemented by in-depth knowledge in at least one specific area of marine ecology. The interdisciplinary research approach requires a personality capable to integrate marine disciplines. The candidate is also expected to participate actively in research profile "Maritime Systems", initiated at the University of Rostock.
Qualifications:
The prerequisites for these positions include a habilitation or equivalent qualifications and an international reputation. Outstanding experience in teaching will be considered. The IOW is an equal opportunity employer.

Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research's Mission Statement: The Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research (IOW for Institut für Ostseeforschung Warnemünde) was founded in 1992 in accordance with a recommendation of the German Scientific Council. It succeeded the Institute for Marine Research Warnemünde, which as a member of the Academy of Science was for decades the most important institution for marine research in the GDR. The scientific programme of the new institute was dedicated to the Baltic Sea ecosystem.
The IOW has four departments representing the disciplines of physical oceanography, marine chemistry, biological oceanography and marine geology. An instrumentation group is affiliated with the Department of Physical Oceanography. Jointly the departments work on a long-term research programme.
