Volunteer Coordinator

Description: uVolunteer is now recruiting a volunteer coordinator for its small but busy regional office in Costa Rica. You will be working alongside the director of uVolunteer and his in country staff. You will be responsible for the day to day coordination of our volunteers in Costa Rica.

Responsibilities

* Working alongside our in country staff, you will be responsible for making each new arrival feel welcome and secure in their new environment.
* You will help maintain effective communication between head office and the local projects we work with.
* You will assist in setting-up new work placements and finalizing accommodation arrangements for future volunteers.
* The job is busy and can be physically demanding. You should be prepared to work flexible hours on any day during your time with us in Costa Rica.
* There is great opportunity for promotion to country director.
* You will be helping to build a young organization so the work will be very exciting.

Contract:
uVolunteer Costa Ricas Volunteer coordinator will be employed for an initial period of 6 months subject to a three month probation period. An offer of employment is dependent upon receipt of satisfactory references and a telephone or personal interview.

Salary & Benefits:
uVolunteer will pay all agreed daily work related expenses and will provide transportation in the form of bicycle. We will help you find suitable cheap accommodation but you will have to pay for this yourself during your probation period. After your probation period we will cover your accommodation cost.

We will provide a small stipend of $200 per month from the beginning of your probation period for the duration of you time with us.

Interview:
If you are successful in the telephone interview we will invite you to spend a few days with us here in Costa Rica. If you are successful after this stage we will offer you a 3 month probation contract.

When you start:
We will give you further training during your probation period and we will work with you very closely, throughout your stay. After your 6 month contact, if you have done a good job, there will be the opportunity of a further 6 months contract. After your second rolling contract you will be in the position of applying for the position of Country Director, a position with an increased salary and partnership benefits.

Qualifications: Our requirements
* You should be a university graduate. Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
* Have an advance level of Spanish.
* Be physically fit.
* Have a professional mature attitude and outlook.
* Be capable to remain calm and efficient under pressure.
* Be an excellent communicator with people of all ages and cultures.
* Be a team player who enjoys working as part of a team.
* Be flexible and able to take direction and accept feedback.
* Be friendly and personable with customer service skills, you must respond well to others. Enthusiastic to work in a different culture and relish the opportunity to work in a challenging environment.
* Have good computer skills.
* TEFL / TESOL qualification would be an advantage.

    This Program is open to American, Australian, Canadian, European, Kiwi, South African and World Wide Participants.
